International Student School Coaching Programme
For international students, private one-to-one coaching is the most effective preparation for study in the UK and for ongoing support after your child starts school. Private coaching will ensure the success of your investment in your child’s education.
To this aim, we offer the International Student School Coaching Programme.
After multiple school visits, interviews and time spent making your decision, you finally chose the UK boarding school or day school for your child - but are they truly ready for school life in the UK?
The most challenging period is usually the first term, when international students may experience any or all of the following: homesickness; learning the customs and lifestyle of the English; the challenges of a full learning immersion in English; and the struggle to adapt to the British curriculum, especially in that Maths and Sciences may be taught differently from schools in your home country.
School life is hardest for those with limited spoken English: having confidence in spoken English will be a key tool for making new friendships, communicating your needs with peers and school staff and getting the most out of the numerous leisure and sporting opportunities available to you.
To overcome these challenges and best prepare each young student for study in the UK, One to One English has developed our International Student School Coaching Programme, which is tailor-made according to each individual student’s case. The development of confidence and fluency in spoken English is absolutely key, but many students also need help with their written English. The course content will generally include:
- Individual private coaching
- Building confidence and fluency with spoken English
- Preparation for school life
- Support with resolving pronunciation issues
- Focus on written English for academic study
- Academic English for Maths & Sciences
- Preparation for Common Entrance and other entrance tests
- Preparation for school interview
To integrate these extra private lessons around the student’s busy school schedule, lessons are delivered online according to the student’s availability, 6 days per week Monday to Saturday. Lessons are 80 minutes and the minimum number of lessons per week is 1. Depending on the time available, students may take up to 5 lessons per week for a more intensive learning experience, particularly in preparation for a visit to the UK to take school entrance tests.

About One to One English
The school, based in Central London, was founded in 1999 and has been continuously accredited by the British Council since 2006. Our latest inspection took place in June 2018 and the inspectors praised many aspects of the school in their report. We specialise in small group classes and 1-to-1 lessons. This means that all of our courses are tailored to each student’s individual needs, delivering the maximum possible benefit in the time available. Our teachers are all British native speakers, qualified and experienced in fast, effective one-to-one teaching techniques.
